The second release in Teeling’s Rising Reserve series continues the legacy of exceptional aged Irish single malts, this time with a captivating 21-year-old expression that showcases both patience and innovation. Initially matured for 18 years in bourbon barrels, the whiskey was then transferred to Marsala wine casks from Sicily for a further three years, allowing it to absorb deep layers of flavour and complexity from the fortified wine. Bottled at 46% ABV with no chill filtration, this release is as pure as it is refined. On the nose, expect sweet grilled stone fruits and spiced orchard notes, softened by hints of vanilla pod, toasted marzipan, marmalade, and fragrant tobacco. The palate is silky and rich, delivering buttery caramel and poached fruits dusted with brown sugar and cinnamon, supported by warming oak undertones. A lingering finish brings floral honey, warming spices, and a final flourish of candied orange and dark sugar. With just 6,000 bottles produced, this limited edition from Teeling’s Dublin distillery is a celebration of character, depth, and meticulous cask selection.
