Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition is the newest expression in the Redbreast Iberian Series, which explores the influence of unique Iberian wine casks on traditional Irish single pot still whiskey. Produced at Midleton Distillery, the whiskey begins its life in a combination of bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks before being finished in Moscatel wine-seasoned European oak hogsheads sourced from Málaga in southern Spain. Bottled at 46% ABV, the Moscatel casks introduce a bright, aromatic sweetness that beautifully complements Redbreast’s rich and spicy pot still character. The nose opens with fragrant citrus oils, honeyed sweetness and gentle floral tones, alongside hints of dried fruit and soft oak. On the palate it is creamy and layered, delivering flavours of candied orange, ripe stone fruits, vanilla and subtle spice wrapped in a velvety texture. The finish is long and warming, balancing the sweet wine influence with Redbreast’s signature pot still spice to create a whiskey that feels both richly traditional and intriguingly vibrant.
