Penfolds Shiraz Bin 28 is a masterclass in warm-climate Australian shiraz, bringing together grapes from powerhouses like the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Padthaway in South Australia. The wine offers a deep, purple core and opens with decadent aromas of black-berry compote, dark chocolate, espresso and subtle hints of aniseed and spice. On the palate it’s rich and generous—ripe black fruit, roasted meat savoury notes, and polished tannins are tempered by refreshing acidity that keeps the wine lively rather than heavy. Matured for around 12 months in American hogsheads (about 15% new oak), the oak is integrated and supportive, allowing the fruit and regional character to shine through in a wine that drinks beautifully now but has the structure for long-term ageing.
